Create a music playlist from a SongbookPro set

This process converts a SongbookPro set overview into a playlist on a supported music platform using AI, a CSV file and TuneMyMusic.

You can use the same process for platforms such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and TIDAL.

1. Export the set from SongbookPro

  1. Open SongbookPro.
  2. Open the set you want to convert.
  3. Open the set’s menu.
  4. Select Print Overview.
  5. Choose Save as PDF instead of printing.
  6. Give the PDF a clear name, such as:

    Guitar Club - Starting Songs.pdf

The overview should show the songs in the correct set order.

2. Upload the PDF to an AI service

Start a new conversation in ChatGPT or another AI service and attach the PDF.

Copy and paste this prompt:

Please convert the attached SongbookPro set overview into a downloadable CSV file suitable for importing into TuneMyMusic.

Requirements:

  • Keep the songs in exactly the same order as the PDF.
  • Use the CSV headers title, artist.
  • Clean up filename-style titles. For example, change Hey_Jude_-_The_Beatles to Hey Jude by The Beatles.
  • Correct obvious capitalisation, punctuation and spelling issues.
  • Identify the original or most commonly recognised artist where the artist is not shown.
  • Do not guess when a song or artist is genuinely ambiguous. Tell me which entries need checking.
  • If the same song appears more than once with filenames such as V2, V3, PREP or similar, treat these as different SongbookPro arrangements of the same song and include only one copy in the listening playlist.
  • Preserve a genuine duplicate if the set clearly intends the song to be played twice.
  • Do not include the SongbookPro playing key in the CSV because it may differ from the original recording.
  • Use UTF-8 encoding.
  • Validate the finished CSV and provide it as a downloadable file.
  • Before finishing, tell me how many rows were in the PDF, how many duplicates were removed and how many unique songs are in the CSV.

Review any titles or artists the AI identifies as uncertain before downloading the CSV.

3. Check the CSV

Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets.

It should look like this:

title,artist
Bad Moon Rising,Creedence Clearwater Revival
Brown Eyed Girl,Van Morrison
Catch the Wind,Donovan

Check that:

  • The first row contains title, artist.
  • Each song occupies one row.
  • The running order matches SongbookPro.
  • Filename-style titles have been cleaned up.
  • Duplicate arrangements have been removed.
  • The selected artists are the versions you want people to hear.

Save the file again as a CSV if you make any changes.

4. Import the CSV into TuneMyMusic

  1. Open TuneMyMusic.
  2. Select Let’s Start.
  3. Choose Upload File as the source.
  4. Select the CSV file from your phone or computer.
  5. Allow TuneMyMusic to read the song list.
  6. Check that it has recognised the correct number of songs.
  7. Review the matches before continuing.
  8. Choose your preferred music platform as the destination.
  9. Sign into your account on that platform.
  10. Approve the requested connection if you are comfortable with the permissions shown.
  11. Give the playlist the same name as the SongbookPro set.
  12. Start the transfer.

The available destinations will depend on which platforms TuneMyMusic currently supports.

5. Check the completed playlist

Open the playlist on your chosen music platform and review the results.

Pay particular attention to:

  • Songs with several famous versions.
  • Traditional songs recorded by numerous artists.
  • Live, acoustic, remastered or karaoke recordings.
  • Songs sharing the same title.
  • Tracks matched to tribute artists rather than the original artist.

Replace any incorrect recordings manually.

Also check that the playlist follows the same order as the SongbookPro set.

6. Make the playlist shareable

Open the completed playlist and find its privacy or visibility settings.

Choose:

  • Unlisted or link-only if the platform provides this option and only people with the link should see it; or
  • Public if you want people to find it through the platform.

Save the change, select Share, and copy the playlist link.

The exact wording will vary between music platforms.

7. Share the SongbookPro set separately

The music playlist only provides the recordings. It does not contain the SongbookPro chord sheets.

To share the actual set:

  1. Open the set in SongbookPro.
  2. Open its sharing menu.
  3. Select Share.
  4. Save or send the resulting .sbp file.

Anyone importing the .sbp file will need SongbookPro.

Keeping both versions updated

SongbookPro and the music playlist are not automatically synchronised.

If you add, remove or reorder songs in SongbookPro, make the same changes to the playlist. For a substantially different set, export a new PDF and repeat the conversion process.
